100 Day Food Challenge
Overview
I launched the 100-Day Food Challenge as a personal social media project to share my passion for food while exploring how consistent content creation could encourage audience engagement.
Unlike my more structured restaurant reviews, this challenge focuses on simple, everyday food experiences, from local snacks and home-cooked meals to interesting food discoveries.
Through a more casual and conversational approach, I wanted to make food content feel approachable and encourage people to share their own experiences.
One Passion, Two Platforms
I explored different approaches to food storytelling across Instagram and Threads, adapting content to the characteristics of each platform.
Focusing on restaurant recommendations, food photography, and short-form videos to showcase dining experiences through engaging visuals.
Threads
Sharing everyday food discoveries, home cooking, and personal thoughts in a casual format that encourages conversation and interaction.
Everyday Food Stories
Throughout the challenge, I shared a variety of food-related content, capturing everyday experiences and exploring different ways to connect with my audience.
Local Food Finds
Discovering everyday snacks and local food experiences.
Cooking at Home
Sharing simple homemade meals and everyday cooking moments.
Food Stories
Exploring the stories and cultures behind food.
From Followers to Active Participants
One of the highlights of my 100-Day Food Challenge was organising a homemade bento competition, which brought together more than 50 participants.
Instead of simply sharing my own food experiences, I invited followers to create and showcase their homemade lunchboxes, turning the challenge into an opportunity for community participation.
This activity encouraged user-generated content (UGC), allowing followers to become active contributors rather than passive viewers.
Invite
Encourage followers to join a creative food challenge.
Participate
Invite participants to create and share their homemade lunchboxes.
Connect
Create opportunities for interaction and shared food experiences.
Insights & Reflections
The challenge has reached Day 96 out of 100, with my highest-performing post receiving approximately 30,000 views.
Maintaining a long-term content series helped me develop greater consistency in content creation and a deeper understanding of audience interests.
Organising the homemade bento competition also showed me how interactive activities could encourage audiences to move beyond viewing content and become active contributors.
Most importantly, this project encouraged me to think about social media engagement beyond view counts, focusing on meaningful participation, community relationships, and long-term content strategy.
