GAME ON, the fifth graduation exhibition of NTHU’s Interdisciplinary Program of Technology and Art, opened at Taiwan Contemporary Culture Lab (C-LAB) on 2 May. The opening welcomed more than 300 guests and visitors, including university representatives, artists, educators, and international guests from Japan.
✦ 15 Projects Exploring Technology, Society, and the Future
Inspired by the idea of life as an open-ended game with no fixed strategy, GAME ON explored how we navigate a world increasingly shaped by rapidly evolving technologies and algorithms. Through 15 projects spanning speculative design, kinetic installations, sound performance, VR, interactive media, moving image, and spatial storytelling, the exhibition examined themes including virtuality and reality, sensory experience, future food, the body, memory, and social relationships.
The opening also featured The Sound Rider, a live performance by Hsiang-Chung Shih and Ting-An Chien that transformed sounds from a moving vehicle and its surroundings into a real-time performance across indoor and outdoor spaces.
✦ Turning Visitors into Players
Extending the exhibition’s game-inspired concept, interactive activities and specially designed objects invited visitors to experience the exhibition as “players” rather than passive observers. From guided tours and prize activities to a playful “Find the Bug” challenge, these elements encouraged audiences to explore, interact, and discover the exhibition in their own way.
Running from 2 to 10 May, GAME ON was more than a graduation exhibition. It became a collective exploration of choice, experimentation, and uncertainty, using technology as a creative tool to imagine different ways of navigating the world.
