18.98Hz: Where Creativity Finds Its Pulse

18.98Hz opened on 16 October at the Nanda Campus of National Tsing Hua University, alongside the Spring of Tsing Hua – Technology Art Excellence Awards. The exhibition brought together works by students from undergraduate to postgraduate level, showcasing diverse approaches to technology art.

Selected from an open call, 12 projects explored a wide range of creative practices and technologies, including kinetic installations, AI collaboration, virtual reality, video art, emotion-responsive sound installations, and interactive soft sculptures.

✦ Listening to the Pulse of Technology Art

The concept of 18.98Hz emerged from the subtle sounds produced by technology-based artworks. Each sound carries traces of a work’s movement, mechanisms, and information. Together, these almost imperceptible noises become more than a by-product of technology; they become the heartbeat of the artworks themselves.

Through this idea, the exhibition invited students to express their observations and imaginations of the world through technology and art. Running from 16 to 25 October, the ten-day exhibition encouraged visitors to open their senses, listen closely, and discover the subtle frequencies hidden within each work.

《微噪 18.98Hz》奏響創作心跳：清大科技藝術展開幕紀實

《微噪 18.98 Hz》10月16日於國立清華大學南大校區竹師藝術空間二館舉行開幕式與「春之清華–科技藝術卓越獎」頒獎典禮。藝術學院張芳宇院長親臨致詞，肯定學生在創作上的努力，也勉勵學生在科技藝術領域持續嘗試新的可能。藝術學院學士班邱誌勇主任也鼓勵學生參與國內外科技藝術競賽，展現國立清華大學的科技藝術創作能量。今年徵件相當踴躍，分別來自大二至研究所的學生作品。經過評選後的選出12件作品，創作觀念與科技應用技術多元，包含動力裝置、AI協作、VR、錄像、情緒感測聲響裝置、軟雕塑互動裝置等。本次「春之清華–科技藝術卓越獎」邀請數位藝術基金會藝術總監王柏偉與藝術家黃贊倫擔任評審，經激烈討論後由《第二現場》（戴婕茵、陳莛薇）、《窺》（蔡荃、黃安榕）、《乞討者》（吳苡緁、邱英瑛）獲獎，另外三件作品獲得評審特別獎，恭喜所有得獎者。《微噪18.98Hz》這個主題源自科技藝術展覽中的微弱聲響，這些聲響各自表述著每件作品的狀態與訊息，是科技藝術本身，也是作品的心跳。學生們希望透過這個概念，用作品去表達他們對於這個世界的觀察與想像。科技藝術校園展自10月16日展出至25日，為期10天的科技藝術校園展邀請大家打開感官，一起感受微噪。
